Emirates Demonstrates Eco-Friendly Methods

On the occasion of World Environment Day and on the back of its energy efficiency agenda, Emirates showcased its environmentally-friendly aircraft dry wash technique, said to have significantly reduced daily water consumption.

Instead of the traditional ways using pressurised water, the carrier has mastered the innovative washing method requiring minimum water to clean the aircraft external surfaces, instrumental to keeping the jets aerodynamic and fuel-efficient while saving 11 million litres of water annually.

The technique boasts applying a liquid cleaning product, which is then removed with a microfiber fabric, leaving the airplanes clean and polished for a longer period. A crew of 15 staff and some 12 hours is needed to clean an Airbus A380 while Boeing 777 requires about nine hours.
