As revealed by Airports Council International, passenger traffic across the Middle East airports for January, boosted by holiday travels, grew 9.3 percent in January, compared to the same period in 2016.

Muscat International Airport and Hamad International Airport (HIA) dominated the upward trend, with growth of 14.7 and 14 percent, respectively, followed by the largest gateway in the region, Dubai International, with a 9.7 percent gain year-on-year.

In terms of air freight, the region’s hubs generated a 8.2 percent increase with HIA leading the way with a 20.9 percent jump over 2016 figures.
